This policy is effective as of October 25, 2009.
What This Privacy Policy Covers
This privacy policy pertains to the use of the NavMarker Service at http://www.navmarker.com/
This privacy policy covers how NavMarker treats personal information that is collected and stored on NavMarker servers. Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable like your name, email address, or location.
Information Collection and How it is used
General InformationNavMarker collects very little personal information when you register to use NavMarker services.
Upon registration, you are asked to provide a valid email address, username (pseudonym) and a password.
After registration, you can optionally enter more information such as your full name, address, locations, an avatar (image), and activities.
NavMarker automatically receives and records information on our server logs from the following sources:
NavMarker uses all of the preceding information for the following general purposes: free services provision, identification and authentication, services improvement, contact, research, and internal reporting.
IP AddressesIP Addresses are automatically reported by your browser and the Software each time you view a web page, or share your position. Your IP address may stored in our log files.
IP addresses may be used for various purposes, including:
- To diagnose or service technology problems reported by our users that are associated with the IP addresses controlled by a specific web company or ISP.
- To tailor advertising based on geographic area or other information derived from your IP address.
- To estimate the total number of users visiting NavMarker from specific geographical regions.
- To log unique views of NavMarker user posts, or "Markers".
The NavMarker Mobile Applications (Software) may use available ambient data such as the default gateway IP address in your LAN (IP address), identification of GSM/3G cell towers (Cell ID), and GPS coordinates of attached GPS receivers to share your location.
NavMarker does not track your location unless you explicitly choose to do so by voluntarily entering a personal Marker. Voluntary updating also includes setting the Software into "Auto Update" mode, where the Software might continually update NavMarker servers with your position at predefined intervals. NavMarker will never change this setting without user awareness and confirmation. Auto Update mode is expected to be included in a future release.
